Knee Slide Pass vs Half Guard
Advanced Lesson Part 1 of 2 -- Marcelo disentangles himself from a snare around his ankle: If your opponent happens to appear comfortable playing from a seemingly deficient position in that of a Quarter-Guard (wherein, your leg is captured below the knee in between your opponent's legs with a Figure-4 configuration), you can salvage your Knee-Cut Pass by first sitting back on top of their clamped legs, and then using your free-foot to pry apart their lock. Seek to unravel whichever leg is biting down as an outside auxiliary hook first, i.e. the stem of the fig.-4, then turn your toes of the captured foot so that you may slip out of the primary hooking leg, i.e. the bent part of the fig.-4. Once you arrive on your opponent's side, you may release and upgrade your grips from the Collar-&-Sleeve into more solidifying holds. However, do not place too much of your bodyweight on top of your opponent while attempting to score points; keep yourself mostly on the floor to avoid getting reversed into the opposite side.
