Advanced Lesson Part 1 of 2 -- Marcelo shares the very first lesson he ever taught his now, ADCC champion student, Matheus Diniz; escaping from the Back-Mount: If your opponent fastens Seat-Belt Control and also sinks in their Back-Hooks, opt to fall onto your shoulder and hip on the side of their under-hooking arm, also known as your opponent's "Weak-Side." If you can, try landing onto this side with your head placed slightly above your opponent's head, and then post it directly onto the mat. If your opponent is blocking you from getting your head to the ground first, wriggle your shoulder free and begin placing your back onto the mat while still using your hands to protect your neck from their choking-arm. Maintain this position and tension against their arms until they tire enough to elicit a transition; either spin and take some form of top-position, or recover your guard from bottom-position while avoiding your opponent's mount.
