3 Part Technique - If the opponent is strong with back submissions, protecting your neck is the priority and not preventing the hooks for back points is secondary. After protecting your neck, you will be safe to start escaping the hooks. If you feel the opponent's back attacks are weak, you can try escaping while protecting your neck at once. After forcing your shoulders to the mat, use elbow push against the opponent's attempt to secure top half guard. If you cannot escape safely, you must risk more because waiting will only delay the inevitable.
