Braulio Estima shares some finishing skills from various Side-Control positions: Controlling over your opponent's head with a Cross-Face in combination with an Under-Hook against their far-arm, if they extend their hand and elbow towards their center-line, you can easily transition over to the opposite side for an Arm-Triangle Choke. However, if you only maintain the under-hook, you can bait your opponent to extend their arm by threatening to step across their face for a near-side attack; swim your arm around their deflection and anchor your hand underneath their head for a possible 'Howdy' Choke (a.k.a. Armless Darce, Breaststroke Choke, et al.) or neck-crank. If you want to secure the Step-Over Armbar, secure their triceps by rolling them onto their side and cutting your leg underneath their elbow into a Modified Scarf-Hold. Adjust your hips so that you slide back just enough to allow your foot to easily make a quick jump behind their head on the far-side. Cup your hand behind their elbow and let your hips help push through it to apply hyperextension to their joint.
