3 Part Technique - In this instructional, Marcelo demonstrates for his class how to lure an opponent into a seemingly winnable transition, all the while keeping control over the outcome with weight and distance management. By incrementally offering the space for a Single Leg Takedown, Marcelo entices his opponent to turn onto his knees, thus exposing his back for Seatbelt Control. The key here in this lesson is to only allow the opponent to move on your terms, hence the importance of keeping the speed of his attack in check with your Sprawl and weight. This same maneuver can be applied from the Knee-On-Belly position; however, since the initial distance between you and the opponent is greater, the window of opportunity for taking his back will be harder to control and much shorter.
