Collar Control from Standing, Circling Pass vs Open Guard, Hand Fighting from Standing, Breaking Gi Grips from Standing Position
2 Part Lesson — If your opponent has time to perform a big transition, so do you; such is the case when your opponent pulls guard from standing without control: [I] Assume your opponent will pull guard after you make a strong collar grip, but avoid letting him control your lead leg or other hand if possible when he does. In this situation, the fastest move is the best option; immediately run around the opponent's legs the moment he drops down for guard. [II] If your opponent does the correct response, and looks to break your grip off of his collar, tug him backwards to hold the control but if you lose it, immediately yank back so he cannot make a grip of his own.
