Rebound vs Spider Sweep
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo handles a common off-balancing technique done from Spider Guard: [I] If your opponent has set Stirrup & Lasso (Double Sleeve Grips; Weaved Shin-On-Biceps, Foot-On-Biceps) from Spider Guard, he may attempt to sweep you over by extending the leg of the foot on your biceps while driving his other shin outside. Do your best to keep your hips level with the mat and avoid rolling over onto your back. Keep a hold of each of his legs by the pants and use the grips to pull yourself back on top. [II] If you notice the sweep in advance, you can try to keep upright by posting your foot out against the direction of the sweep. Be warned; if you step too close to your opponent's reach, he may capture your foot and disrupt your base even further. If it cannot be helped, at least lift your foot off of the mat as he goes to grab it and settle back down into your kneeling base. Drag the Foot-On-Biceps leg across for a Folding Pass or simply stay inside his guard away from the Spider Hooks.
