3 Part Technique — If you notice your opponent opening up his neck while you are sprawling on top with the Front Headlock in the gi, perhaps because he wants to perform a Sit-Out Escape, take advantage of the extra material by grabbing inside his cross collar for the Loop Choke. Once your grip is secure, catch him in a Cradle and drive him onto his side. Finish the submission by ripping up his collar across his throat while blocking his head from moving away with your knee. If however, your opponent sits to recover back the Half Guard, deepen your overhook and look for the Brabo Choke. Increase your success by taking your weight off of your opponent and passing his Half before applying the pressure for the choke. If necessary, cross his lapel tip behind his back as a handle and then drive your weight through his shoulder. Remove his underhook if you can't seem to finish easily, as well as try switching your base to drop more of your weight.
