2 Part Technique - You will be more at risk to leg attacks if you leave your feet and legs loose with no control in the Open Guard. If the opponent grabs your ankle, immediately twist your heal inwards to escape the first variation of the Straight Footlock. The second variation of the Footlock is when the opponent crosses your leg, which is stronger and more secure. You will have to unwrap the position by removing or blocking the opponent's first foot and opening the oppoent's knee so you can pass over it to escape the subsmission.
