Straight Footlock Escape from Open Guard
Lesson Part 4 of 4 -- Marcelo confesses a weakness: If your opponent latches onto your ankle, do everything in your power to stay as close as possible to your attacked leg, making grips to help pull yourself close, and allocate your weight so that your base is centered upon the sole of your trapped foot. Unless you wish to sacrifice the structural integrity of your ligaments and rely on flexibility to endure an attack on your ankle, do your utmost to bring your opponent away from exposing the sole of your foot; keep your shin upright and your foot flat as you work to escape the lock.
