Straight Footlock Escape from Open Guard
2 Part Technique - It's best not to leave your feet vulnerable for attack while playing loosely in Open Guard. If you can help it, try to place your feet on your opponent's hips or as hooks. You may be able to resist some leglocks if you have flexibility, however, everyone taps if the submission is applied by someone with a significant size and strength advantage. Preemptive escape is the most sensible solution; when you notice your opponent fall for the Straight Anklelock against your Open Guard, immediately turn your knee down and your heel upward, letting him slip off of your foot. If he happens to cross your ankle to the other armpit, sit up into Knee On Belly by removing his foot and vaulting over his knee. Hold him with a Collar Tie if necessary, and keep warding off his foot from your hip.
