2 Part Technique - If your opponent makes a serious effort to try to control your feet and ankles, it's probably an indication that he will attempt to transition for a leglock. As soon as you sense this danger, kick yourself free before he has a chance to act and immediately hide your feet by hooking his legs. If he drops back with your ankle before you can kick free, escape your hip and turn your heel upwards to slip your foot out from under his armpit. If it doesn't slip out, quickly sit up to hold onto his upper body, and begin dismantling his control over your hips to get on top. If he crosses your foot for the Straight Anklelock, chances are the slip won't work, so anticipate this and sit up quickly to escape and pass.
