1Leg X Guard Sweep
Marcelo helps Matty counter an opponent's defensive grips inside his Single-Leg X-Guard: If your opponent latches onto your collar to help hunker down and keep their center-of-mass lowered to withstand your initial off-balance, use your Reverse Butterfly-Hook to elevate them overhead. Raise your hips high and press off the mat with your free hand to send your opponent forward face first; if they don't release your lapel, they may end up conceding the sweep. If they are quick to post above you to prevent the sweep, seek to grab onto their hand so that they cannot follow-up and regrab your collar to stay standing. Try to knock them backwards with the traditional 1Leg-X sweep (a.k.a Twist-Sweep, Knockdown-Sweep, et al.) by timing your opponent's attempt to re-base and immediately driving your shin hard against their inner thigh as they press back from your Overhead Hook-Lift. When entering into the 1Leg X-Guard, adjust your movement according to your opponent's weight; if their leg is heavy, scoot forward and slide yourself underneath, if light, swing inwards with your Shin-on-Shin Control to bring them into position.
