Marcelo helps Fabio dismantle a common counter to the Spiral Armbar from Mount: Your opponent may attempt to stifle your transition around their arm for the Spiral-Armlock by grabbing onto your pants; if you cannot readily reach down and break off their grip from your leg while maintaining control over their opposite arm, find a home of your leg across one of their shoulders. Drop your leg heavily downward as you swing it inward towards centerline. It will become difficult for your opponent to hold onto your leg effectively from this crossed angle. Keep your weight firmly pressed against your opponent's near-side shoulder and chest to help prevent them from sitting up and escaping your hold. When the time is right, move your leg back across your opponent's face onto their far-shoulder to hold them down with more control before pressing onward with the Spiral-Armbar.
