Single Leg Counter > High Leg Over vs Lapel Control
4 Part Lesson -- Marcelo counters the Lapel/Single: When your opponent tries to come up on a Single while holding onto your lapel (tail-end of the jacket skirt weaved between your legs), keep heavy on top in the Sprawl and grab the pants (inside leg), scooping the knee up and breaking the opponent's base with a Navy-Ride. [03:34] If they step up with the outside leg, you don't necessarily have to let them rise to show your Uchimata; stay heavy on top and grab the pants again to tilt the opponent over breaking their base. [07:23] If your opponent posts with their (his/her) arm to prevent from getting dumped down into Side Control, swing your leg over their head. [09:32] When drilling, make sure to keep in parallel with your opponent and heavy on the head to make it difficult for them to stand up with your leg using the lapel.
