Major Outside Reaping Throw, Scissors Sweep from Closed Guard, Armbar from Mount
Advanced Lesson -- Marcelo adapts a traditional Judo throw for Nogi: Starting with Collar & Elbow Control on the feet, drive your opponent's weight onto one leg by steering their upper-body in order to break their posture for a throw; take an outside-step closer to their base so that you can swing your inside-leg around and hook behind their weighted leg. Continue to steer your opponent's head and arm down towards the mat as you swipe out their basing leg with your own to complete an Osotogari (a.k.a. Major Outside Reaping Throw, Cross-Hock Take-Down, et al.) without the aid of gripping the gi. If you can land directly into Knee-on-Belly and still have their arm isolated away from their body, there is an opportunity to quickly fall back for a Near-Side Armbar. Otherwise, secure top position by attaching your chest to their chest with Under-Hook & Head-Control. Walk your under-hooking hand north to open up their elbow away from their side enough to make room for your far-knee to cross over into the Full-Mount. If your opponent happens to capture your arm while mounted and bucks you off into the bottom of Closed-Guard, work to control their posture with a Collar-Tie & Elbow-Control. Escape your hips outside and insert your shin across their chest to apply a Scissors-Sweep back into Mount. Take control over their extended-arm by sliding your knee behind their triceps as you shift your weight around their shoulder into a seated posture for an Arm-Lock. Finish the armbar submission by securing a grip around their wrist and bringing their arm into hyperextension towards the side facing their feet.
