3 Part Lesson — For Marcelo, the Omoplata isn't about timing or flexibility; it's about incremental control: [I] If your opponent's hands are around or beside your body, chose one side and isolate his arm as you place your foot on his hip. Knead his elbow on your stomach as you stretch him away to make room for your leg to swing down on his shoulder for the Omoplata. If you can't find the room to post your foot on his hip, grapevine his ankle from the outside to get your hook inside for a Hook Sweep to Omoplata. [II] If your opponent rolls to escape the Omoplata, continue controlling his arm, spin around and sit on his chest, and fall off to the side for the Spiral Armbar. [III] If the opponent tosses your leg off of his chest and shoulder before you can land the Spiral Armbar, continue holding his arm until you can release it for the N/S Choke.
