Marcelo demonstrates a rudimentary technique for escaping from underneath the Mount: Force your opponent to commit their hands onto the mat above your head as posts by bridging your hips up high enough to knock them forward; if they don't place their hands out to catch themselves, your opponent runs the risk of getting reversed or hitting their head hard on the mat. Before they have a chance to retract their posts, choose one side and grab onto their forearm with both hands. Pull their elbow onto your chest and secure their arm by gripping your hands together over top; meanwhile, step your foot on the same-side as their trapped-arm right next to the outside of their ankle. Push off the mat with both legs, raising your hips high into the air and lifting your opponent up and over with a strong bridging escape (a.k.a. Upa, Buck-n-Roll, et al.). When you land kneeling inside of your opponent's Closed-Guard, make sure to neutralize their search for offensive control by posting your hands against their biceps to prevent them from gaining control over your arms or neck.
