Hook Lift from Butterfly
3 Part Lesson -- Marcelo reshoots his Hook Sweep from Butterfly: Elevate your opponent off the mat by keying in on the detail of keeping your hips close to your Butterfly Hooks. You will be most off-balance while your knees are at an acute angle, so you must fall back while holding your opponent's upper body by the head or with an Underhook as you block their post and execute a Hook Sweep. [03:30] If you have difficulty sweeping your opponent, be quick to reset your hooks and pull yourself in back under your opponent before trying again. [06:57] If your opponent leans away from your Hook Sweep, it will make it easier for you to transition into a deeper and more high percentage guard for sweeping and attacks, i.e. X-Guard.
